Study Schedule & Status - Update September 2008

The study began January 2007 with the appointment of Wilbur Smith Associates to lead a multi-firm consulting team. Supporting WSA is HDR Decision Economics, Global Insight, Opus International, Stafford Business Advisors, Geo Plan, iTRANS, and Davidson-Peterson Associates. Economic Development Research Group is providing technical direction and management oversight to guide the study process.

The Task 2 Reports on Existing Conditions and Needs was completed during the summer of 2007. The work of this task was discussed at Steering Committee meetings, involving the four US state DOTs and five Canadian MOTs, which took place in Boston and in Montreal in 2007. A copy of the Summary of Findings Report on Needs & Opportunities in the Study Area has been released and is posted for viewing in the Documents section of the CanAmConnections web site, along with a shorter Executive Summary.

The Task 3 Report on Alternative Strategic Directions was completed at the beginning of 2008. The work of this task was discussed at a Steering Committee meeting held in Saint John, New Brunswick and a subsequent business roundtable meeting held in Montreal. A copy of this report is available on this website in the Documents section (posted in April, 2008).

The Task 4 "Predictive Analysis", Task 5 "Cost-Benefit Analysis", and the Task 6 "Analysis of Financing Options" tasks were completed at the end of September, 2008.

The Final Report is scheduled for release in October, 2008.
